Welcome to Leading the Latch

Empowering Your Breastfeeding Journey with Expert & Compassionate Care

Expert Lactation Support

Breastfeeding is natural, but it doesn’t always come naturally. At Leading the Latch, we provide personalized guidance to help you and your baby succeed without judgment, stress, or confusion.

We offer in home, virtual, and office visits, so you can get support in the way that works best for your family. Every visit is tailored to your needs, whether it’s improving latch, navigating pumping or bottle feeding, addressing supply concerns, or supporting formula or combination feeding.

Leading the Latch utilizes a Tanita BD-815U high end scale that provides incredible sensitivity for the smallest of patients. It was specifically designed to weigh premature infants and babies that are having difficulty gaining weight, featuring a measurement accuracy of 0.1oz/2g. This is especially helpful for obtaining weight gain calculation for pre and post feeding also known as a test weight. A test weight will tell you exactly what your baby takes in at the breast. Not all scales are created equal!

I reached out to Leah from leading the latch, because my daughter-in-law was having latch issues with her baby girl. Her baby was tongue tied, and she also had low milk supply. My daughter-in-law was also experiencing great pain. Being a first time, mother, as we all know is very challenging. Leah immediately made room in her very busy schedule to see her right away, which I greatly appreciated. Leah quickly alleviated much of the anxiety I could see my daughter-in-law was having. Leah came to the house and observed a full feeding and weighed the baby using a highly sensitive scale to know exactly how much the baby was getting. Leah’s calm, compassionate, professional and confident manner was evident. Leah and her team are second to none in their profession. Leah provided my daughter-in-law with a detailed, written care plan, (that did not include triple feeding). This allowed both Mom & Dad to get much needed sleep! Leah was available to her via text or phone call for any follow up questions. Leah also referred her to a pediatric ENT who specializes in surgery to release the tongue tie. I would highly recommend Leah and leading the latch to anyone who wants to breast-feed. I would even recommend you consulting with Leah prior to the birth. Thank you Leah, you are amazing!

We have loved working with Leah for both pre and post-partum support and education with our newborn. She is very knowledgeable, and both patient and thorough. Highly recommend for both classes and one-on-one support!

Leah, of Leading the Latch, has been an incredible resource from the very first time I reached out. She took the time to help me understand how I could use my insurance to reimburse her visits, which immediately put me at ease. I booked a prenatal visit with her, and she thoughtfully went through everything I already had prepared for baby and breastfeeding, what I still needed, and helped me decide which bottles and breast pump(s) would be best for me. She came back a day or two after we brought our baby home and truly taught me how to breastfeed. I genuinely looked forward to our visits — Leah helped us get off a nipple shield, and my baby now has an amazing latch. I honestly don’t think I would still be breastfeeding at 4.5 months if it weren’t for her support. We’ve also come up with a plan for when I return to work to keep pumping and breastfeeding! That is something that I had not even thought about until we talked about it but I feel so much better about it now that I know what to expect! Leah is an invaluable resource and an unwavering supporter and cheerleader. My fourth trimester would not have been nearly as successful without her. Do not hesitate to book with her, you will be so glad you did!

Leah is amazing! I don’t have the words to truly express how much she helped me and my family as a first time mom. After the birth of my daughter, I had a really hard time breastfeeding. My daughter wasn’t latching well with a tongue tie and as a result my nipples were well torn up and it was so painful for everyone involved. She also hadn’t gotten up to birth weight after a week so alarm bells were ringing but I desperately wanted to breastfeed my daughter. The LC support that I got in the hospital was nothing compared to my experience with Leah. As soon as I first reached out, Leah was supportive and listened to what my goals were and made a plan to help us get there. Leah went above and beyond to be available for in home support with hands on teaching. She helped me learn a doable pumping schedule with the right flange size and machine for me. Soon my daughter was back up to birth weight and thriving on her growth curve. Leah continues to be a resource that I value so much. The only regret I have is not working with her sooner. If you’re planning to breastfeed and it’s your first time or you’re just wanting support on the journey, I HIGHLY recommend getting set up with her before your child is born. Lots of love for this LC!!!

I was referred to Leah by my postpartum nurse, and could not be more grateful! As a first time mom knowing nothing about breastfeeding/pumping, I was beyond overwhelmed. Leah was able to see me quickly and I immediately felt at ease with her guidance, support, and kind demeanor. I looked forward to our visits and appreciate her knowledge as a nurse, IBCLC, and mom. She has been an integral part of my postpartum journey and the reason I feel confident feeding my baby.

I cannot say enough good things about Leah. She is just the best of the best. I reached out to her a few days postpartum and she first came when our baby was 3 weeks old and I was struggling postpartum with fitting in pumping. She not only saw us extremely quickly but she truly truly listened to me. She saw I needed so much more than just pumping help. She is more than just a Lactation Consultant. She was a support system, a cheerleader, someone who checks in on you, and a trusted source of knowledge. She gave me groups to join that literally changed my postpartum experience. She came to our house multiple times - the original visit, bottle follow ups (baby was not about the bottle for a long long time), and a virtual appt to help me plan for going back to work. If you need an LC Leah is it. She will help you and make you feel so loved, heard, and cared for in the process. Also if she doesn't know an answer she will find you someone who does. I could keep going but if you made it this far - hire Leah

Leah is amazing. My husband and I met with her while I was pregnant, the day after we came home from the hospital, when I wanted to start pumping, and for bottle refusal. First, she is a wonderful person. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and gentle in her approach. We both felt super at ease with her immediately. She’s responsive and available virtually and via text when needed. She also made things super easy by providing a super bill to submit to insurance. She genuinely cares and is one of the best gifts I gave myself during my pregnancy and postpartum journey.
